غم

أصابها غمّ شديد بعد الخبر.

ʾaṣābahā ghamm shadīd baʿda al-khabar

She was struck by deep sorrow after the news.

لا تدع الغمّ يسيطر عليك.

lā tadaʿ al-ghamm yusayṭir ʿalayka

Do not let grief take control of you.

خيّم الغمّ على البيت كله.

khayyama al-ghamm ʿalā al-bayt kullih

Gloom settled over the whole house.

كان في صدره غمّ لا يعرف سببه.

kāna fī ṣadrihi ghamm lā yaʿrif sababah

There was a heaviness in his chest whose cause he did not know.
