OwnSlides respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users to do the same. This page explains how we handle reports of copyright or trademark infringement involving content posted on the Service, and how users can respond if their content is removed in error.
Do not upload, post, share, or otherwise make available on OwnSlides any content that you do not own or do not have permission to use. This includes text, images, audio, video, and lesson materials authored by other people. If we receive a valid report that you have done so, we may remove the content and, in repeated or severe cases, suspend or terminate your account.
Not all unauthorised uses of copyrighted material are infringing. Many jurisdictions recognise exceptions such as fair use (United States), fair dealing (United Kingdom, Canada, and others), and the quotation, criticism, review, caricature, parody, and pastiche exceptions under the EU Copyright Directive (Directive (EU) 2019/790). Use your judgment, and when in doubt seek your own legal advice before posting.
If you believe content on OwnSlides infringes a copyright you own or control, send us a written notice that includes the following information:
Send the notice to: support@ownslides.com
Knowingly submitting a false or misleading report may result in liability for damages, including under section 512(f) of the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and equivalent laws in other jurisdictions.
If your content was removed and you believe the removal was a mistake, or that you have a legal right to post the content (for example, you own it, you have permission from the rights holder, or your use falls within a recognised exception such as fair use or fair dealing), you may send us a counter-notice. The counter-notice should include:
Where required by law, we will forward your counter-notice — including your contact information — to the original reporter. The reporter may use that information to file a lawsuit against you. If the reporter does not file an action within the period required by applicable law, we may restore the removed content at our discretion.
If you believe content on OwnSlides infringes a trademark you own (for example, content that uses your mark in a way that is likely to confuse users about the source of goods or services, or content that promotes counterfeit goods), send us a written notice identifying the trademark, the registration number and jurisdiction (if applicable), the allegedly infringing content, your contact details, and a good-faith statement that the use is not authorised. Send trademark notices to the same address listed below.
Referential, comparative, descriptive, and nominative uses of a trademark — including for accurate identification, lawful commentary, criticism, parody, or review — are generally not infringement. Fan content that does not falsely claim affiliation with or endorsement by the brand is also generally permitted.
We maintain a repeat-infringer policy. Accounts that repeatedly post infringing content may be suspended or terminated, and we reserve the right to immediately terminate accounts involved in severe or wilful infringement, regardless of prior history.
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available on this page, and the "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated to registered users by email or in-app notification before they take effect.
